Brilliant beginner's beekeeping course! Dafydd and Dawn took us through from complete novices to feeling confident about setting up our own hive. A good mix of theory and practice and lots of hands on experience and practical tips. I thoroughly recommend this course if you are thinking about keeping bees.

We had a fantastic 2 days with Dafydd and Dawn at Anglesey Bees, who were very welcoming. The course was well presented with a good mixture of theory and practical aspects of beekeeping, culminating in hands on hive inspection which was amazing. Their enthusiasm and knowledge of all things bee is infectious and I felt very comfortable asking questions and left feeling so much more confident in our beekeeping journey, which continued when we got home as our first nuc of bees was waiting for us! Well, where do I start? What a brilliant experience - Beekeeper for a day course with Dafydd and Dawn.

I would be fibbing if I said I had no nerves about being amongst the bees before attending but any fears were soon put back stage once the course began. Excellent presentation from both and their teaching backgrounds shone through. Every question (and there were lots!) addressed and nothing too much trouble. The bees were mesmerising and relaxing to be around. Their intelligence and importance for the planet is well known but seeing them work at close quarters was humbling. Diolch enfawr Dafydd a Dawn. I thoroughly enjoyed "So, you want to be a beekeeper" beginners course. The two day class provided a perfect balance of classroom learning and hands-on hive inspections. Dafydd's infectious enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge made for an engaging learning experience. Donning protective gear and getting up close with the bees was a highlignt. I also appreciated sampling different honeys, thanks to Dawn. For anyone interested in getting started with beekeeping, I highly recommend the course. Two thumbs up!

My friend and I recently attended a Bee Curious Experience and we had the test time! The experience included an informative presentation, an opportunity to look at bee anatomy under a microscope, blind honey tasting, a visit to the hives, and finished with some candle making. The time just flew by and it was worth every penny. I cannot recommend highly enough. Thanks to Dawn and Dafydd for an unforgettable experience.

Just back from an amazing stay on Anglesey. We stayed at the Beekeeper's hut at Dafydd and Dawn's place and had the best weekend. Our hosts nailed the best balance of privacy and making us feel welcome by being super friendly. The hut in idyllic settings with large pond/lake a stone's throw away and a lovely walk through treelined meadows and their working beehives. Of a morning, we woke to a lovely continental breakfast of warmed pastries, overnight oats, boiled eggs, fresh tea and coffee and orange juice. We certainly could get used to al fresco breakfast on the decking. Shower facilities are in the main house but wasn't awkward at all as you get exclusive access during your stay. Thank you so much Dafydd and Dawn, we'll be back soon.

My daughter and I spent a morning here on the bee curious experience and we would highly recommend it. We had a brilliant time and learnt so much about these incredible creatures, got to see inside one of the hives, taste-tested honey and made a candle. It was well worth the money and we would highly recommend it, whether you are looking at keeping bees or just interested in them. The only downside to us is they had sold out of honey.

Dafydd and Dawn were amazing hosts, very responsive, attentive and caring. They made us feel at home and so we felt like we were visiting family. The grounds are stunning, they've done a great job with the surroundings, a lot of thought has gone there. If, like us, you enjoy wildlife, you'll enjoy your stay there. The small lake is inhabited by a couple of ducks and is visited by geese. The trees are home to a variety of small birds and an owl and the fields host a small herd of sheep. Dafydd is a beekeeper and so there are bee hives in the area, which you can avoid if you'd rather not go close to them. There's also Fudge, a super friendly terrier and Twmff, the loveliest ginger tom. Breakfast was such a treat, it included local ingredients and was prepared with so much love. The hut is really cute, perfect for a couple, and cosy enough for a romantic getaway. We'd love to be back! Don't forget to get yourself a jar of honey before you go!

The best Airbnb stay we've ever had! In the run up to the stay, Dafydd communicated with me and gave extra directions to the hut with maps etc as they are literally off the beaten path. Both my partner and I are plant based and with the breakfast included, I messaged Dafydd to tell him, not expecting to be accommodated, as often happens when travelling, but he said it was fine and accommodated us accordingly. This was great and very touching.

When we arrived we were greeted by the two amazing hosts, Dawn..... and Fudge the dog! We saw Dafydd in the distance picking berries which were in our breakfast the next morning! Dawn was very helpful and was always available to us for advice, suggestions on places to see and when to go, history and even helped us pronounce a few Welsh words! Dawn went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and we really felt it. Thank you Dawn.

The Beekeeper's hut that we stayed in was built by Dafydd himself and has everything you need and more with sustainability in mind and is extremely well insulated! The two of them have a wonderful bit of land, which they have renovated and they use to keep bees and rear sheep. They are more than happy for you to take some of the walks around their property and see their bees and the 1000 trees they have planted, as well as meet some of their other animals like their resident ducks!

The place is in a great location, not too far from some amazing beaches and very close to the bridge across to the mainland. The two have a lovely place and it goes hand in hand with everything Anglesey has to offer! You won't regret staying here.

I attended the beginner's 2 day course at Anglesey Bees. Held in a beautiful setting and made welcome by Dafydd and Dawn. The course is aimed at giving the beginner like me the practical information and confidence to start keeping bees. The course had a small number of students (4) which allowed for plenty of individual attention. Dafydd's teaching is delivered in a relaxed manner so you can ask as many "stupid questions" as you like! The course covered the essential theory and gave invaluable hands-on experience of handling the bees and what to look for in examining a hive. Finding the queen and seeing her laying eggs with her retinue around her was amazing! There's so much more to learn but with Anglesey Bees' support, I am excited to begin my beekeeping journey. My partner and I were really impressed with this experience! Dafydd and Dawn were both really lovely and very knowledgeable. We walked away feeling educated about bees, beekeeping and more. Would definitely recommend to anyone who's at all interested in beekeeping . We've gone from simply curious to very inspired! We also purchased some of the honey from the summer harvest and it is truly delicious. I don't see the jar lasting much more than a week or two!

Being curious about bees, I booked myself and my partner into this experience to learn more about them. It was a fantastic experience! Very informative. Getting suited up and being close to the hives was the highlight for me. We even made a beeswax candle which we could take away with us. A very enjoyable experience. Dafydd and Dawn are both lovely people too. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone with an interest in bees.

An absolutely fantastic experience! We booked through Airbnb, which was a very easy process and we had great contact straight from booking. The experience itself was amazing and me and my partner both learnt a huge amount. We both now feel very knowledgeable about beekeeping and i'm even thinking about getting some hives at work. I had not much idea what to expect but decided to treat my family after reading fantastic reviews. Have to say we are joining everybody else in our rave review! Dafydd and Dawn had really thought out how to captivate us as adults and my two five year olds. There are so many things as a 36 year old I had no idea about bees. I have been chewing my friend's ears off ever since. Our visit was more than we anticipated and we fully enjoyed and would recommend to anybody. To top it off, Dafydd and Dawn are such lovely people. Top experience day! Highly recommended. Host couple were very welcoming with a strong passion for bees backed up with a deep understanding. We opted for the 3hr bee curious experience, which taught us why a hive is constructed the way it is, a hands on look at the inner workings inside a live hive, bee anatomy under the microscope, how honey is collected and the behaviour/life cycle  of bees. Followed by a honey taste test and making a bees wax candle. Great day out if you're interested in science or nature.

Dafydd and Dawn's place is an absolutely amazing location. Surrounded by amazing scenery, it really is a fantastic escape for any couple. The hut itself if so cosy and romantic. They are amazing hosts and will make you feel welcome and at home and they offered us very good advice on local beauty spots and walks. I couldn't justify giving anything other than 5 stars in every category! Perfect location for a base to explore Snowdonia. 100% recommended to anybody who is thinking of booking this place. Sue, Karen and Olivia attended the 2 day beekeeping course on April 23rd and 24th. We were welcomed by Dafydd and Dawn who were friendly and made us feel at home straight away. We had limited knowledge about bees and found Dafydd to have a wealth of knowledge, taught the course in a way we could all understand, and answered all our many questions. We were all fascinated and excited to study and be hands on with a bee hive. Dafydd was very informative and calm while we studied and looked through a bee hive. As being three generations of the same family it was lovely for us to spend the time together learning about our shared love of bees. We all highly recommend the beekeeping course, we all had a fantastic time and learnt so much about bees and beekeeping.  Thank you Dafydd and Dawn, we will all be back in the future.

This experience was informative, fun and incredibly memorable. Dafydd is a passionate and highly educated man and this shows in his clear, concise explanations of all things bee related! He cleared up some misconceptions, taught us about the anatomy and culture of (and dangers to) bees and beehives, then introduced us to his own bees, so we could see them up close in action. Dawn taught us a bit about honey and we got to make beeswax candles to take home, I don't think we'll will ever burn them but they'll serve as a lovely memento of our experience with Dafydd and Dawn.

Me and my girlfriend had an awesome time staying at Dafydd and Dawn's  place whilst in north Wales. The location of the hut was fantastic, as it was close to Snowdonia and many major tourist spots. It was nice and secluded so we could just spend some time to ourselves. However if we ever needed any help at all on what to do for the day, Dafydd and Dawn were always there to help and provide us with great insight on where to go. They also made us feel very welcome and supported any of our needs. Each morning we had a breakfast delivered which was super tasty! The amenities were great and we would definitely be coming back again.

What an interesting morning I've had! 3 fab hours of learning about honey bees, their lifecycle and their products. Dafydd was friendly, informative and open to my many, many questions. I enjoyed seeing inside a hive and the way it works and even holding one of the frames. I also took part in a blind honey tasting - the results of which made me think hard about the honey I buy from now on. This is a well thought out, well organised and extremely interesting course, that is expertly delivered by Dafydd in beautiful surroundings with a working apiary. The lives of these small creatures is absolutely fascinating, such that another course participant commented that the time simply flew by. I can only agree with that. If you want to learn about bees and beekeeping, having no prior knowledge whatsoever, then I believe this is what you need.

Fabulous experience with Dawn and Dafydd - they are very knowledgeable, very friendly and are doing so much great work around bees and sustainability. Learnt all about Bees, their lifecycle, some awesome facts and all about beekeeping and how hives work live and reproduce - we even got to see bees close up under a microscope. We came from London for this and it did not disappoint. Highly recommended!

We spent 2 incredible days with Dafydd and Dawn. A great team, a fantastic education centre with warming fire and the best coffee! We came away knowing we could start our beekeeping journey with confidence. Dafydd is a brilliant teacher - calm, knowledgeable and passionate about bees. Dawn is so welcoming, we relaxed within minutes and loved every minute of our time with Anglesey Bees. My only regret - not doing this course sooner. We can't wait to join them for the next one.

Really wonderful experience! We didn’t really know what to expect when we got there but they really took care of us! It was well structured and organized while being very relaxing! Nice mix of personal conversation and bee & honey related topics! Both Dafydd and his wife are very knowledgeable and great (retired) teachers - this really came through. They were very patient and made You feel very comfortable. Absolutely recommend to anyone! We now have a much greater appreciation and awareness for bees and the industry.

We had such a fun day here. A big group of us came (our party leader had booked this as a surprise activity) so we honestly did not know what to expect. We wanted to write to thank you for the incredible experience we had last week learning all about your work. The girls are all still talking about it and want to educate everyone they meet! Wilhelmina went home and checked that the honey in the cupboard "smelt of flowers". Estelle has spent a long time on the phone telling her great grandma all about the queen bee and the hard working girl bees. We have such special memories so thank you again (I suspect we'll make a beekeeper out of one of them at least!) They wanted to write to you on this wildflower seed paper so you can plant it afterwards for your bees. They also wanted to send you a copy of Bee Movie as they think you will love it.

The course was absolutely superb. Dafydd trained as a biologist to doctoral level & is a qualified teacher. So his approach to give budding beekeepers is to teach only the essential background facts progressing to practical work using a dummy populated hive followed by practical demonstration of hive inspection. 2nd day more classroom aspects reinforcing on dummy hive before we 2 students made practical live inspections in turn. More practical advice on feeding, disease control & choices of equipment rounded it off in lovely surroundings.

My girlfriend and I stumbled on this by chance, and both being interested in bees but not really knowing much about them, this seemed like and interesting day out. But the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home, and Dafydd's knowledge and passion ensures there was never a dull moment, it was fascinating. He took us through every aspect of bee life before we got suited up. Seeing the hives and watching the bees at close range was superb, and the whole experience was fantastic, probably the highlight of our holiday. I can’t recommend this experience highly enough.  Much better experience than I was expecting. I knew it would be informative. But it never got boring, and it never feels like you have to know about it to understand. And he doesn’t make you feel stupid by asking silly questions. Which I did often! We came for the experience as it’s something we would never ever do. And we have learnt so much. I wanted to try and overcome some of my fear of bees, which I think I have done, and I wanted to learn what I can do to help the bees and look after them not only in my garden but in what I buy in my weekly shop. Not one question was left unanswered! Loved every minute of it! Perfect birthday present for my boyfriend as something different.

A fantastic course, Dr Dafydd is hugely knowledgeable, vastly experienced and superb at putting complex ideas over to total beginners. We arrived as complete novices and after two busy days, left as excited beekeepers eager to get started with our own hives. Great fun, masses of advice and complete satisfaction.
